           RIVERTON ELKS ICE FISHING DERBY OFFICIAL RULES

  • All Manitoba Sport Fishing Rules Apply
  • This is a catch and release derby.  Barbless hooks only.
  • Fish must be brought in container of water.  Bring your own container such as a pail or cooler of at least 16 liters.
  • All species accepted
  • Prizes are determined by largest weight and time.  In case of a tie, fish weighed first will win higher prize.
  • Absolutely no passing of fish from one contestant to another contestant.  Fish will be disqualified and no prizes awarded for that fish.  Contestants will be disqualified upon decision of event organizer.
  • All fish must be alive.
  • Only five fish weighed per contestant
  • One prize per fish
  • No live bait, or electronic equipment (such as flashers, underwater cameras, depth finders)
  • Portable ice tents, tarps, and windbreaks allowed, but cannot be erected until 12:00 start.
  • 1 hole per entry (1 line per hole), unless second hole purchased (still one line per hole)
  • $50.00/entry.  Second hole available for $30.00.  Junior Derby (12 &under) is $10.00.
  • Junior contestants are only eligible for junior prizes and not eligible for the “Catch the Tagged Fish” prizes.
  • Derby begins at 12:00pm  and ends at 3:00 pm
  • Paid contestants who are fishing will be the only ones allowed to enter the derby site.
  • All Coolers, pails, portable shacks will be checked before entering derby site.
  • Pre-drilled holes in a 20ft grid.  Bring an axe or chisel to reopen holes.
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes payouts are based on percentage of total entry fees received.
  • 25% first prize, 15% second prize, 10% third prize payouts.  Junior derby payouts are 50% first prize, 35% second prize, 15% third prize.
  • Catch the Tagged Fish” is provided by VIKING motors and WESTSHORE of Arborg.  The “Catch the Tagged Fish” prize amount is $10,000.00.  There will be three fish caught and marked with number tags.  Of the three fish caught, Prize Indemnity Underwriters will decide the sole winning tag number.  The fish will be caught three days before the event, tagged, and released under Natural Resource Officers supervision.
  • The tagged fish is ineligible for other derby prizes
  • Anglers will be allowed into derby area at 10:00 am
  • If you have to leave the derby area for any reason, you must exit and enter through the check in line.
  • Horn will sound beginning and end of derby.
  • If unsafe ice conditions cause derby cancellation, entrants will be given ticket for the next year.
  • The Tournament director has the right to delay or shorten the tournament, subject to weather or safety conditions.  Decision of official is final!
  • Failure to comply with derby rules subjects contestants to disqualification.
  • The designated parking area is along the roadside, and beach parking lot for safety reasons.  Parking in these areas is recommended, as the Riverton Elks Lodge #530 is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, theft or stolen property for this event.
