Child Care

It is against the law to leave children at home alone if they are under 12 years of age. You must have adult supervision or get a babysitter who is over 12.

Children in Canada are protected from being abused, and anyone suspecting abuse must contact the police. It is not legal to physically punish a child so strongly that marks are left on the body. Any type of domestic abuse (physical harm to any family member) is illegal. It is illegal to have sexual relations with a person under the age of 18.
